First Saturdays

The First Five Saturdays Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was first mentioned by our Lady of Fatima on July 13, 1917.  After showing the three children a terrifying vision of hell she said:

“You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.  If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.  I come to ask for the Communion of reparation on the first Saturdays…”

Our own Father Ben has begun this devotion.  In addition to the Holy Mass on every first Saturday of every month, Father Ben includes the Sacrament of Healing or Anointing of the Sick.  In this Sacrament we celebrate the power of God’s healing love.  Some people who receive this Sacrament receive a physical healing.  Other people may not be physically healed, but their souls are strengthened so that they can endure their illness or mental trials and tribulations.  The most important thing, however, is that the persons receiving this Sacrament really trust in God’s love for them.

So what does it mean to trust in God? To fully trust in God, we cannot let our fears and doubts get in the way.  Instead we have to keep reminding ourselves of how much God loves us and that he is working out everything in our lives for a good purpose.  Join Father Ben for this beautiful devotion and healing every First Saturday of every month.
